We are looking for a part time Wellness Assistant to lead group fitness classes in our community. We require a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or other health related field from an accredited four-year college or university and related experience or training working with older adults and you must be CPR/AED/FIRST AID certified. Must have a professional certification from the American College of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise, or similar organization. Please see below for full position description.
POSITION GOAL: The Wellness Assistant works directly with the Wellness Coordinator to help facilitate the Resident and Team Member wellness program to assure that on-going program is designed to promote the philosophy of health and wellness known as WellLife at Blakeford.
ENVIRONMENT: Blakeford at Green Hills provides multiple levels of care and services to its residents, through a continuing care plan, in an attractive surrounding while offering an array of personal services and activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Wellness Assistant:
¨ Becomes aware of the implication associated with every aspect of a successful wellness program for a senior living community.
¨ Manages and oversees the Wellness Center to ensure the facility and equipment are maintained and cleaned appropriately.
¨ Keeps workplace and appearance neat and organized
¨ Coordinates resident, team, and community resources as needed to promote physical health and wellness programs on campus.
¨ Assesses residents’ physical fitness, cardiovascular endurance, body composition, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility, developing personalized exercise programs for individual residents and monitoring their progress and safety.
¨ Observes and promotes safety practices with residents and team throughout campus.
¨ Must maintain all privacy rules and regulations pertaining to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). Also must complete an annual mandatory HIPPA training session.
¨ Responds to, or reports to supervisor as necessary, resident grievances.
¨ Interacts with co-workers, physicians, residents and all other customers in a manner
which encourages harmonious working relationships, enhances the image and
reputation of the facility and promotes positive customer relations.
¨ Supports the community’s mission statement by dependability in attendance, punctuality, maintaining confidentiality, the timely completion of assignments, and attention to
principles of professional ethics and quality service.
¨ Has a commitment to professional and personal growth through development of
skills and knowledge, as well as improvement in the facility’s performance.
¨ Ensures the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all residents is maintained.
¨ Follows all other duties and guidelines assigned by the Administrator.
SUPERVISION & LEADERSHIP:
Receives guidance from the Wellness Coordinator with respect to overall objectives;
work is usually quite independent of others; operates within departmental policy
guidelines using independent judgement in achieving objectives.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as
percentages, area, circumference, and interest.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and
draw valid conclusions. Ability to practice good common sense in situations involving
privacy, safety, or hospitality.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS: Intermediate computer skills, including e-mail, routine
database activity, word processing, spread sheet, and graphics.
